Curator Wine Co 2023 Hamlets Shiraz - NEW VINTAGE

$30.00

Hamlets Shiraz is a blend from different sub regions or “Hamlets”  from where we grow and buy grapes from across the Barossa Valley.

Hamlets Shiraz is made in a complex but juicy style that is true to our house style but extremely easy to drink though complex enough to be able to cellar for many years of future enjoyment. Predominantly from three vineyards all planted in the 1950’s in the Hamlets of Vine Vale, Nuriootpa and Ebenezer and then “topped up” with declassified barrels from the CWCo Shiraz blend that didn’t make that blend.

No new oak, only seasoned barrels of USA and French, made in a juicy but complex style. Will benefit from cellaring but why bother when it tastes so delicious straight out of the gate!

93 points Winepilot Ken Gargett - A deep red/garnet hue, the nose gives us lovely, seductive cherry notes with chocolate, spices, bergamot, bay leaves and red fruits. A supple texture with juicy acidity and decent length, through to fine tannins, all reveals a well crafted wine. Enjoy over the next six to eight years.

92 points Halliday Wine Companion 2025 - A shiraz sourced across a number of Barossan hamlets: Marananga, Stone Well, Gomersal, Greenock and Vine Vale. Deep crimson with aromas of blackberry, satsuma plum and dark cherry with hints of licorice, dark spice, hanging meats, ironstone, olive tapenade, dark chocolate and earth. Full bodied with a crème de cassis flow, billowing tannins and some nice sprightly acidity pulling thing along.

  • Each parcel was picked separately and destemmed into open-top tank for fermentation, chilled down then allowed to warm up then inoculated with yeast to start the ferment. All parcels were fermented separately. The ferment was gently hand plunged two to three times daily for approximately 8-10 days. Then basket pressed and all blocks blended together and filled to tank to complete natural Malolactic fermentation. Once completed the wine was transferred to only seasoned USA & French oak where it stayed for approximately 12 months maturation in barrel.

  • Predominantly from three vineyards planted in the 1950’s in Vine Vale, Nurioopta and Ebenezer. Plus declassified barrels from our Marananga vineyard.

  • At its best: now to 2031.
