2022 & 2023 Curator Wine Co Barossa Valley Shiraz
2022 Vintage is available under screw cap
2023 Vintage is now available under Diam cork
This Barossa Valley Shiraz was sourced from our 5 different plots of Shiraz at our home Marananga vineyard. It’s gorgeously perfumed on the nose, with dark cherries, blueberries and a well-integrated layer of fine French oak making this a powerful but smooth wine. It’s upfront and hugely appealing. 10% whole bunch, each plot was naturally fermented separately and basket pressed to only French oak (15% new). Natural Malolactic fermentation occurred in barrel and the wine remained in those same barrels for 16 months before being selected and blended together to form the final cuvée.
Bottled unfined and unfiltered and is Vegan friendly.
94 points Winepilot Ken Gargett - An inky dark maroon colour, the nose exhibits notes of mocha, cassis, chocolate, coffee grinds and tobacco leaves. The texture is seductive, even decadent, and there are abundant but fine and silky tannins. A long and lingering finish, over which the intensity is maintained, ties up an utterly gorgeous Barossa Shiraz. This really is seriously good value. Enjoy it any time over the next ten to twelve years. The score could have been higher, and I have no doubt it will deserve elevation with time.
93 points The Wine Front - This is a Barossa Valley shiraz with a lot of flavour and a bit of difference. It’s built on plum, kirsch and jelly baby flavours though it’s the combination of dark chocolate, dried herbs and choc-orange characters that makes it feel different, and positively so. There’s a refreshing feel to this wine even though it’s rich. Indeed the price is pretty keen given the character and flavour on offer.
93 points Halliday Wine Companion 2025 - Shiraz sourced across five plots in the Curator Marananga Vineyard; 10% whole bunch, 15% new French oak. Deep, pure fruit tones of blackberry, macerated satsuma plum, boysenberry and black cherry. Layers of baking spice, licorice, milk chocolate, olive tapenade, citrus blossom, roasting meats and scattered herbs. Plush and ripe with a beef stocky savouriness, tight, fine tannin architecture and a long, kirsch-like finish.

94 Points Wine Pilot
From the Marananga region with 8% whole bunches, the remainder being whole berries fermented in open tanks for ten days. Basket pressed to French oak hogsheads, 30% new, with maturation over 18 months. An opaque purple, there are notes of aniseed, cassis, black olives, chocolate, coffee beans, black fruits, soy and roast meats. Plush with big, bold flavours, there is a really lovable generosity here plus silky tannins. Approachable now but will drink beautifully for many years, at least ten to fifteen. A cracker.
92 Points - Wine Companion
Shiraz sourced from several plots across the Curator estate in Marananga; matured in French oak (15% new) for 18 months. What a pretty-smelling wine! Lifted red plum, blueberry and mulberry notes are underlined by hints of baking spices, red licorice, ironstone, violets, earth and milk chocolate. Red and dark berry fruits on the palate with tight, sandy tannin, bright acidity and a medium-length finish with just a swoosh of tobacco.
95 Points - Wine Orbit
Gorgeously styled and expressed, showing black and purple fruit intensity, toasty oak, warm spice and dark chocolate notes on the nose, followed by a concentrated palate offering velvety texture and finely woven tannins. An abundance in delicious flavours within a properly structured frame. At its best: now to 2036.
92 Points - The Real Review
Rich ruby red in the glass, blueberry, mocha and ironstone aromatics. Palate mirrors the nose in its profile and there's a finely structured tannin profile that still offers great drive and tension to a long finish. Ticks a lot of boxes without overdoing it and will cellar well. Drink 2023–2028

The hand-picked grapes had a two-day cold soak then naturally fermented using indigenous wild yeasts. The ferment was hand plunged three times daily for approximately ten days. Then basket pressed and filled into only French oak 15% new for three weeks of barrel fermentation followed by 18 months maturation.
